Massage therapist and client at Milk & Honey Remedial Massage Melbourne.
Modern life is busy. We like to slow it down.

Remedial Massage.

Fix your aches and pains.

This treatment option is designed for people wanting specific results.

The aim of a remedial massage treatment is to reduce physical pain and discomfort, increase range of movement and mobility and prevent injury. Our therapists will carry out an assessment prior to your massage and will advise on a treatment plan along with expected results.

We believe that a spoonful of honey makes the medicine go down a little easier so each session is topped off with a heavenly scalp massage to release deep-seated tension.

This massage is ideal for clients recovering from sports injuries, injury prevention, those suffering from deep-seated muscle tension, and clients who are after specific remedial results.

Note: For remedial massage treatments we can provide HICAPS services for all clients with private health insurance or a receipt to claim manually.

Most of our therapists are registered with the all major health funds. Your therapists provider details will be noted in your confirmation email.

Remedial Facial Treatment.

A therapeutic facial massage.

The remedial facial treatment is a therapeutic massage designed to target chest, neck, face and scalp to help alleviate headaches, neck tension, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) syndrome.

Performed with a vigorous rhythm to improve circulation, increase oxygen flow and free up contractions in the connective tissue and facial muscles.

The treatment combines elements of remedial massage, acupressure Japanese techniques, lymphatic drainage, Gua-Sha and cupping. It is also a safe and natural way to enhance the health and appearance of the face.

Incorporating organic Rasasara skin products into the treatment enriches the benefits of the massage and provides an even more effective and rejuvenating experience. Please arrive to your appointment make- up free and note that this treatment will leave oil in your hair.

Claimable with private health insurance.

Pregnancy Massage:

On the Table.

A targeted, nurturing 60, 75 or 90 minute massage designed specifically for your body’s remarkable changes during this precious time, supporting mum and baby. Our therapists trained specifically in pregnancy massage, have the unique ability to deliver a firm and effective treatment whilst mum-to-be is lying on her side, supported by soft body pillows.

A pregnancy remedial massage can assist with the aches and pains experienced during pregnancy, which are often caused by the extra weight and shift in the centre of gravity. There are many physical benefits to a pregnancy massage in addition to the nurturing and emotional support provided by the massage therapist.

Massage during pregnancy reduces peripheral swelling, soothes the nervous system, helps to prevent insomnia, muscle cramps and back pain. For a more relaxing experience choose the 75 or 90 minute option.

Note: For remedial massage treatments we can provide HICAPS services for all clients with private health insurance or a receipt to claim manually.

Pregnancy Massage:

On the Futon.

Our futon style, pregnancy massage treatments are based on the teachings of a leading UK massage and shiatsu therapist Suzanne Yates, who teaches an integrated eastern and western approach to provide holistic maternity care.

Receiving a treatment on the futon allows for a greater sense of comfort and ease. Our cozy new pregnancy massage treatment room is an exciting addition to our clinic, holding true to the nurturing and soothing environment we aim to provide to all of our clients. The beautifully cushioned futon mat at floor level means you can manoeuvre yourself easily and safely, incorporating therapist assisted stretches to compliment your treatment. Soft pillows are used to support your body in a predominately side lying position and on your back when appropriate. As with all our treatments, we will consult with you so as to tailor your treatment to suit your needs and comfort. Treatments on the futon are offered at 60, 75 and 90 min lengths.

Note: For remedial massage treatments we can provide HICAPS services for all clients with private health insurance or a receipt to claim manually.

Zen Shiatsu:

On the Futon.

Zen Shiatsu is a traditional Japanese, hands-on massage that is performed over clothing – a great option for those sensitive to skin products.

Our trained therapists use their fists, elbows, knees, palms and thumbs to apply pressure to all parts of the body along specific energy pathways (meridians), helping to rebalance the energy and alleviate tensioning pain throughout the body.

Zen Shiatsu has the effect of calming the autonomic nervous system and increasing resistance to stress, by helping with blood and lymph circulation, it assists to maintain and improve muscle tone and healthy internal organ functions.

Treatments are performed on the futon at floor level and are ideal for muscular tension, migraine, stimulating circulation, stress, insomnia, low energy and fatigue. You’ll leave with a feeling of deep release and renewed vitality.

Note: for Zen Shiatsu we recommend to dress comfortably with light clothing as it incorporates stretching and movement of joints to maximise the results.

This treatment cannot be claimed on private health insurance.

Sculpting Face & Intra-Oral Massage:

(Buccal) Massage.

Introducing our Sculpting Face & Intra-Oral (Buccal) Massage – 60 mins

Are you looking to enhance your complexion while also experiencing tension relief?

Milk and Honey are thrilled to be offering a new treatment: Sculpting Face Treatment & Intra-Oral (Buccal) Massage – a rejuvenating experience that leaves your skin revitalised, your face refreshed, and relieved from any tension.

There are two parts to this treatment:

1. Sculptural External Technique
We use an organic facial cleansing oil to massage and sculpt the outer surface of the face, focusing on the upper layer of mimic muscles.

2. Intra-Oral Technique
Wearing sterile gloves, we skilfully massage and sculpt the facial muscles from within the mouth. The intra-oral approach allows us to work simultaneously on both internal and external facial muscles, restoring lost muscle tone and promoting strength. Simultaneously, we alleviate tension, promoting facial symmetry.

To conclude the treatment, we cleanse your skin and apply a protective 50+ SPF moisturiser.

Benefits include:

  • Non-invasive skin rejuvenation
  • Visible reduction in fine lines, wrinkles, and uneven texture
  • Lymphatic drainage: eliminates facial toxins, reducing puffiness for a more toned and lifted appearance
  • Improved blood circulation and cerebral fluid flow: enhances collagen production and promotes a radiant complexion
  • Reduction of jaw tension and pain: targets masseter and temporalis muscles, along with the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), providing relief from deep-seated tension and reducing masseter muscle size. This enhances the jawline’s appearance and improves jaw mobility.

When you schedule a Sculpting Face Treatment at M&H, you will be in the expert care of Caroline, owner of M&H. Caroline is one of a select few therapists in Melbourne who has received personal training from pioneer Yakov Gershkovich.

Health insurance rebates are not applicable to these treatments.

FAQ:

Who is this treatment suitable for?
Most skin types but those with inflammatory skin conditions such as rosacea, cystic and pustular acne are advised against this treatment.

It is not suitable for the following conditions:
Pregnancy, thyroid instability, cancer, local infection or irritation, active cold sore, bleeding gums or lymphatic issues.

How many treatments are recommended?
1 per week for 4 weeks and then one a month for the next 6 months.

When can I expect to see and feel results?
You can see and feel results after the first treatment but it’s after the 3 or 4th when the lifting effect can really be seen.

Is this good for treating TMJ pain?
Yes! Because we massage from inside the mouth and outside simultaneously, it really targets the temporalis masseter joint, releasing deep set tension, reducing pain and increasing mobility.

Is this a skin treatment?
I don’t use any products with active ingredients, but your skin will be cleansed and finished with a glorious SFP 50+ moisturiser. The treatment itself will reduce puffiness, increase collagen production and smooth fine lines.
